How to Test Subscription Email Notifications

Before launching your store, it’s important to test your subscription-related email notifications to make sure they’re being sent correctly, are on-brand, and provide a clear experience for your customers.

This guide explains when and how to test these emails using a test subscription order.

When to Test Your Email Notifications

You should test your subscription emails:

  • During your initial store setup
  • After editing email templates in Sip
  • Whenever you update your store branding or customer communication settings

How to Test Email Notifications

Follow these steps to make sure your subscription emails are working as expected:

  1. Place a test subscription order on your storefront
    • You can do this using Shopify Payments test mode or a real transaction with your own email address

Check your inbox for the following notifications:

    • Order confirmation
    • Subscription created
    • Upcoming billing, payment failures, or any other applicable events

      Review each email for:

    • Branding consistency (logo, colors, tone of voice)
    • Clarity and accuracy of messaging
    • Correct product and subscription details

This helps you catch any issues before customers receive them.

Want to Customize Your Emails?

You can fully edit your email notification templates in the Settings > Emal Notifications > Email Templates section of the Sip dashboard. For step-by-step instructions, check out our guide:
