Managing Subscription Plans


Subscription plans are the foundation of your recurring revenue. They define the specific options—such as delivery frequency and discounts—that your customers see on your product pages.

To manage your offerings, navigate to Plans from the sidebar menu.


The Plans List


The main Plans page provides a bird's-eye view of your current subscription structures. The table includes:

  • Name & Merchant Code: The customer-facing title and your internal reference.
  • Products Attached: How many items are currently linked to this specific plan.
  • Frequency Options: The number of delivery choices available (e.g., Weekly, Monthly).
  • Date Created: When the plan was first established.

Tip: Use the Search Bar to quickly find plans by name or code, or click any column header to sort the list.


Creating a New Plan


Click "Create subscription" to open the plan editor. The setup is divided into three key sections:

1. Subscription Details

  • Subscription Name (Required): This is the public title customers see on your storefront.
  • Merchant Code (Optional): An internal ID for your team’s tracking and organization.

2. Products

Click "Add products" to launch the Shopify product picker. You can select entire products or drill down to specific variants. Once attached, these products will automatically display the subscription widget on their respective pages.


3. Frequencies

A single plan can have multiple frequency options (e.g., "Monthly" and "Quarterly"). Click "Add frequency" to configure the following:

Feature Description
Frequency Name The label shown to customers (e.g., "Fortnightly").
Delivery Frequency How often orders are generated (e.g., every 2 weeks).
Pre-paid Toggle Charge customers for multiple deliveries upfront (e.g., bill every 3 months, deliver every month).
Billing Cycles Set Minimum cycles before a customer can cancel, or a Maximum limit where the subscription automatically expires.
Inventory Policy Choose to reserve stock "On fulfillment" (default) or "On sale" (at the time of purchase).
Discounts Offer a Percentage off, Fixed amount off, or a Fixed price.
Tiered Pricing Enable "Different discount for subsequent orders" to offer a larger hook for the first order (e.g., 20% off the first month, 10% thereafter).
Delivery Policy Select specific delivery days (e.g., every Tuesday) and set Cutoff days to prevent last-minute changes before a shipment.

Editing & Deleting Plans


Editing

To make changes, simply click any plan in the list. You can modify products, update discounts, or add new frequency tiers at any time.


Deleting

Open the plan and click "Delete." > Important Note: Deleting a plan removes the option from your storefront for new customers. It does not cancel or affect existing customer subscriptions; those contracts will continue to process as normal.
