How to edit the email notification template.

Keeping your customers informed is key to a successful subscription business. Sip Subscriptions provides a robust suite of automated emails that trigger throughout the subscription lifecycle. You can manage these by navigating to Settings > Email Notifications in the sidebar.

Global Email Settings

Before customizing individual templates, configure your global sending and branding preferences.

Master Toggle

Use the main switch at the top of the page to Enable or Disable all email notifications across the entire app with a single click.

Branding & Identity

Ensure your emails look and feel like your brand:

  • Logo: Upload your store logo (PNG, JPG, or GIF, max 5 MB). If left blank, your shop name will appear as text.
  • Brand Colors: Set a Primary color for buttons and headers, and an Accent color for highlights.
  • Reply-to Email: Specify the address customers see when they hit "reply" to a notification.

Custom Sending Domain

By default, emails are sent from sipsubscriptions.com . To send from your own domain (e.g., mail.yourstore.com ):

  1. Enter your domain name in the Custom Sending Domain section.
  2. Add the generated DNS records to your domain provider (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap).
  3. Click Verify. Once verified, Sip will send emails directly from your domain.

Types of Email Notifications Sent by Sip

Sip Subscriptions automatically sends key email notifications to your customers to keep them informed about their subscription activity. These notifications are fully customizable through the templates mentioned above, and are triggered based on specific events.

Here are the email notifications currently supported:

1. New Subscription Created

Sent when a customer successfully creates a new subscription.

2. Subscription Cancelled

Triggers when a customer (or store admin) cancels a subscription.

3. Payment Failed

Alerts the customer if a payment attempt fails, so they can update their payment method.

4. Billing Date Changed by Customer

Notifies the customer when they adjust the billing date for their subscription.

5. Subscription Expired

Sent when a subscription has reached its end and is no longer active.

6. Subscription Paused

Informs the customer that their subscription has been paused.

7. Subscription Resumed

Lets the customer know their paused subscription has been reactivated.

Managing Notifications

You can enable or disable individual email notifications in the Sip Subscriptions dashboard, under the Settings > Emal Notifications > Email Templates section. Each event type has its own customizable template. Click on a template to edit the Subject line, Heading, Body (HTML supported), and Button text.

Dynamic Variables

Personalize your messages using variables in double curly braces. These automatically pull data from the specific subscription:

Variable Description
{{customer_name}} The subscriber's name
{{product_name}} The name of the subscription product
{{next_billing_date}} The date of the next scheduled charge
{{manage_url}} The Magic Link for instant portal access
{{shop_name}} Your store name
{{order_total}} The total cost (New Subscription only)

The recurring invoice e-mail template can be further edited in Shopify Admin > Settings > Notifications > Customer notifications > Draft order invoice.
